A great resource for ideas.

Found this blog today. The author lists the meals she makes each week. Great place to get meal ideas!

The Lazy Vegetarian

Dressing up veggie dogs.

So, veggie hot dogs. In the wrong execution, oh so gross. But dress 'em up right and you've got yourself a perfectly acceptable American family meal. And the kids kind of like it.

We grilled our veggie dogs, to put a little bit of authentic flavor into them. Then we put a bunch of toppings on the table: chopped onion, chopped pickles, sauerkraut, ketchup, mustard. We served them with whole wheat hot dog buns.

On the side we served The Yummiest Salad Ever. Lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms, carrots, avocados and some fat free shredded cheese on top. (To make The Yummist Vegan Salad Ever, omit the cheese).

It was pretty damn good!

Our favorite veggie chili

One of the easiest things to make and eat, in our opinion, is veggie chili. Our recipe is vegan, but sometimes we throw a little low fat cheese on top before we eat it. Because come on, we're not trying to be freaking martyrs here.

Note that we think it's yummiest in a crock pot, but you can totally make this on the stove, too. Just simmer for at least 30 minutes instead of slow cooking.

Our ingredients:

Two 24 oz cans of diced tomatoes
Three cans of no-salt pinto beans (we get them a Meijer here in Michigan)
One 6 oz can of tomato paste
One onion
One green pepper
One celery stalk
Two garlic cloves
One bag of frozen corn
Chili powder-however much floats your boat

Saute the onion, pepper, celery and garlic in olive oil for about five minutes (you can skip this if you're in a hurry. We do sometimes.) and then dump it into your crock pot with everything else. Set it on low and go to work. When you come home, you'll have a decadent dinner.

We like to make Jiffy corn muffins or homemade garlic bread to eat with it.

Eating meat. A love story.

It's a classic love story.

Boy meets girl. Girls gets hungry. Boy takes girl out to a carnivorous lunch. Boy and girl bond over a love of food. Boy and girl cook together, go out to eat together. Boy and girl get married, celebrate with prime rib. Boy has heart attack. Girl develops insulin resistance. Boy and girl try exercise and diet tactics that seem to work for others, but aren't working for them. Boy sees Bill Clinton on TV, and how he lost so much weight by following a vegan diet. Boy throws idea out to girl about trying to do it like Bill Clinton. Girl agrees.

Boy and girl bond over discovering exciting vegetarian recipes that are quick, easy and so delicious they don't miss the meat. Boy and girl feel that they are doing a pretty good job of it. Girl throws out idea about starting a blog. Boy agrees.

This is that blog.
